Dr. Chalasani currently serves as David W. Crabb Professor of Medicine and Adjunct Professor of Anatomy, Cell Biology and Physiology and Director of Terance Kahn Liver Disease Research Program at Indiana University School of Medicine and Indiana University Health. He is a highly experienced researcher in alcohol associated liver disease. He was the principal investigator of the TREAT Consortium from 2012 to 2018 and subsequently AlcHepNet (2018 to current), both funded by the NIAAA to investigate mechanisms of alcohol associated liver injury and develop novel therapeutics. In addition to his experience in clinical trial design and conduct, he is an expert in liver safety and regulatory science. He published over original papers, 3 Practice Guidelines, 47 book chapters/review articles, 35editorials/commentaries, 18 symposium proceedings, and more than 600 abstracts (Google Scholar Hindex 121, i10 index 461 with 75,589citations). He is an elected member of the Alpha Omega Alpha, American Society of Clinical Investigation (ASCI) and the American Association of Physicians (AAP)
